Endocrine disruptors or EDCs are compounds that interfere with natural hormone functions and may produce reversible or irreversible biological effects in individuals or populations by interfering with hormone function. They may interfere with the synthesis, storage, release, secretion, transport, elimination, binding, or action of endogenous hormones. They may temporarily or permanently alter feedback loops involving the brain, pituitary, gonads, thyroid gland, or other organs.
